Göta Canal is made up of a man-made canal, locks, towpaths, walls and embankments. Since opening in 1832, the canal has served as both an important transport route and a restful holiday paradise.
Every year the Göta Canal attracts around three million visitors.
Göta Canal is one of Sweden’s largest transport infrastructures with 87 kilometres of man-made canal, 7.5 kilometres of quays and jetties, 21 marinas, 58 locks, 48 bridges, 400 buildings and Sweden’s longest avenue with 10,000 trees.
M/S Juno is the world’s oldest registered cruising ship, built at the Motala shipyard and launched in 1874. The ship has got 29 cabins on three decks. The dining room with a lounge is found on the middle deck (shelter deck) and the upper deck (bridge deck) offers a covered aft deck with a perfect view.
The latest face-lift came in 2003 with renovated cabins, dining room and lounge. All three boats have been furnished in a period style and we work continuously on the careful preservation of the beauty and soul of our ships to keep an authentic onboard atmosphere for our guests.
The M/S Juno was listed by the National Maritime Museum in 2004 meaning that they consider her historically important.
All cabins are all tastefully decorated with brass details and beautiful fabrics. The cabins are small, leaving an impression of how people once travelled. The size is actually comparable to a smaller sleeping compartment on a train.
ALL CABINS ARE ON THE OUTSIDE
All cabins are on the outside and above the waterline. Most of them have bunk beds, but there are also a couple of cabins with a "Queen-size bed”. The cabins have a washbasin with hot and cold running water. No cabin has its own toilet or shower. There are shared toilet facilities and showers nearby the cabins on each deck. The cabins are located on three different decks. The cabins on shelter and bridge decks open onto the deck.
Price per person:
from 12.995 SEK (double cabin category C on main deck)
